Nobody is immune to them. Too often, we perceive challenges in life as being of a financial nature only, as for the majority of us, challenges=lack of money. However, they could be of a relationship nature, a health issue, a crisis of faith, or a lack of trust-to name but a few. It is at times when one is facing a challenge that they must not give in to the poison of lethargy and self-pity. If there is one thing that I have learned from my years of martial arts training and subsequent growth in the field of reality-based personal protection training it is the value of perseverence and attitudinal conditioning. If you want it, you can get it-but it won't be given to you. You must know your strengths and weaknesses-if you are a negative thinker by nature, DO NOT attempt to re-wire yourself by walking around saying things like, "everything is perfect," or "I have everything I need right now." Such affirmations hinder you because while you may say them, your mind knows that it isn't true. Result: you do not achieve what you want, and you grow disillusioned and bitter, and eventually settle for whatever you get.
That is not to say that positive thinking is useless. NOT AT ALL. The proper mentality is essential for anything. Being able to find positives in any situation is the hallmark of a truly successful person. If that person is a negative or pessimistic person by choice, they succeed by being able to harness or channel that "negativity" into productivity. In doing so they have in essence found the positive in their situation, rather than standing in a thunderstorm saying, "it is a nice sunny perfect day." Bull. If something sucks, there is nothing wrong with saying so. What is wrong is to allow that to keep you from finding a motivating factor in that suckiness to urge you to become proactive and improve your situation...which is probably why every glassy-eyed, hypnotized Oprah disciple bought the book, The Secret, read it for a few weeks, and then threw it on the heap of books from her "Book Club" collecting dust in their spare bedroom. They would be better served reading Think and Grow Rich and The Art of War back-to-back.

In training, especially in a self defense encounter, the "freeze factor" is the biggest hurdle to overcome. If people have time to process what is going on, many times they become docile, almost incredulous, thoughts of "this isn't happening," racing through their minds. It is only through proper training, adressing the factors of adrenaline dump, fear response, fight-or-flight mechanisms, ansd so forth, can one quickly process a situation and act accordingly.
If someone attacks you, through proper training in the White Collar Warrior Self Protection Skills System, your body will react based on the drills you have done, and your mind will more quickly analyze what is happening, and out of that suckiness, you will find a motivation to remove yourself from the situation...your family...your children....your whatever. THAT is the real miracle of positive thinking.

Until next time,

Bobby

What's Your Legacy?

"What kind of legacy would you like to leave behind?"
I got asked this question in an email from one of my training clients this morning.
I've known her for several years, and we never have any shortage of stimulating conversation...mostly me saying something that pisses her off, and her testing my comfort zones and challenging my views. Anyone who know s me knows I have definite opinions and don't mind spouting them when asked for them, and even sonmetimes when not asked as well...

Anyways, that email got me thinking, "what kind of legacy do I want to leave behind?"
Here is what I came up with.

I want my family and friends to remember me as someone who was genuine, someone who, while far from perfect, was the kind of guy that could be counted on, trusted and depended on. Most of all, I want everyone who knows me to feel like their lives were bettered and they had grown as in dividuals for having known me.

It is in this spirit that my professional legacy is formed: I want to be able to leave a legacy of empowerment and confidence building though trtianing in no-nonsense, effective and practical self protection training. I wish that everyone who participates in a trainin g session with myself or purchases the White Collar Warrior Self Protection Skills Home Study Course can truly say to themselves or to others that their lives have been improved through this program and my life's passion. If that was to be my legacy-which is exactly what I am working to achieve-I can leave this big blue spinning ball a happy guy...

My question to you is: what is your legacy? What do you wish to leave your kids and family with?

Whatever your answer is, one thing is constant: you have to be here in order to leave them with it. Often times it makes you disgusted, other times it honestly doesn't quite register because you're hit with so many similar stories from all angles. Occasionally, you come across something that just shocks, revolts and outrages you all at once.

Denise Amber Lee was a mother and a wife who was abducted, raped and murdered by a man named Michael King on January 17, 2008 in Florida. What makes this case so unique is that five 9-1-1 calls were made that day, including one by Lee to police using King's cell phone. Due to incompetence and poor communication between dispatchers and police, help was unable to arrive in time. Two witnesses made calls, one who saw Lee try to escape King's car and be forced back in by King, and another who saw Lee screaming and thrashing in the backseat of King's car. Still, authorities were not abkle to sync up, and a short time later, King shot Lee in the head and buried her in a shallow grave.

This cosmic failure in the emergency response system ushered in the Denise Lee Law, which requires mandatory training and certification for dispatcher personnel.

However.....

Denise Lee is still dead. her husband Nathan lost his wife, and her children have lost a mother.

Too often in society, we live with a notion that because people are around and everything is so "high tech" that we have this safety net around us.

We believe our neighbors will always be there for us.

We believe that 911 will bail us out should we need them.

We believe that strangers will step in and help us if they see us in trouble.

For the most part, we are right.

BUT....

We cannot, CANNOT rely on any of the aforementioned as a "safety net" for our own personal safety.

I can only hope that should some sicko ever try to attack another woman, man or child, he will get a good healthy dose of "you f***ed with the wrong bull."

Do me a favor-learn from the mistakes of others-make yourself that much more self-reliant.

Check out our White Collar Warrior Self Protection Skills Home Study Course today.

Please take my words to heart-this story terrifies me.

Bobby

The best way to learn something...

is to DO IT.

Too often when practicing any skill, especially self defense, too much effort goes into the research, planning, reading, reading, more reading, internet surfing, looking for who's the "best" out there, which system or style has the most youtube hits, all that crap.

Instead, more time should be spent on DOING the techniques, practicing them against a partner to see if they work for you, and then deciding whether or not to pursue another means of instruction.

One thing about our White Collar Warrior Self Protection Skills Home Study Course, it's simple, effective and practical.. They can't do this, they can't do that, they can't play here, they can't go there...and although it makes for a softer, less worldly child, in my opinion, it is anecessity to some degree, as the world has become so full of predatory attackers, one cannot help but become inherently distrustful of strangers-and with good reason.
HOWEVER
To deny children the ability to make some choices (small ones) is to teach them to be codependent, trusting and not to think for themselves.
Just to clarify, all I'm talking about here is the way some parents only want their child to see "NICE" things-no swearing, no violence, no news stories, no sports where competition is allowed so that "everybody is a winner", and so on.
I'm sorry but keeping things "nice and happy" at the expense of reality is detrimental to the child.

Do them a favor, sit down when they're old enough for kindergarten or first grade and talk about strangers. Create a code word. And teach them the basics of self defense from the White Collar Warrior Self Protection Skills Home Study Course.

Please do something to make this world a bit more safe. Don't deny your children the opportunity to catch a glimpse of the reality of life, albeit a little bit. They will thank you in the long run.
How do I know this?
My folks tried to shelter me from bad things but started teaching me about things like death and bad people when I was in first grade. Shows like Diffrent Strokes and Family Ties also dealt with such issues, not like the mindless crap on TV now. I'm grateful for growing up when i did and honestly feel a bit sorry for the soft, video-gamer, home schooled, socially stunted youth of today...but that's just one guy's opinion.
Be safe,

Bobby

Sobering...

I just came across this online-this type of stuff scares the shit out of me and makes me want to scream out my window for everyone to learn the stuff we're showing in our White Collar Warrior Self Protection Skills Home Study Course.

Read on...

Bodies With Hearts Cut Out Found in Mexican Cave (AOL News)

(June 7) -- Even in the midst of a drug war that has left thousands dead, this was a particularly gruesome discovery: six bodies in a cave, three of them with their hearts apparently cut out.

That is what police in Mexico found Sunday, in a natural cave just outside the resort town of Cancun.

Francisco Alor, the attorney general in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo, said the victims -- two women and four men -- had been tortured. In a statement to The Associated Press, Alor's office said their "chests were opened to remove the hearts."

In the U.S., Cancun is probably best known as a vacation spot, but recently it has become yet another backdrop for Mexico's increasingly violent battle against the drug cartels.

Makes you re-think the vacation this summer...

The city is home to high-profile murders, drug-related violence and human smuggling. And it is becoming known as a hotbed of corruption as well. In May, Cancun gubernatorial candidate Gregorio Sanchez was arrested for allegedly having ties to drug cartels. He claims he is innocent.

The bodies found in the cave have not been identified, and police did not confirm that they were victims of the drug war. But the Mexican newspaper El Pais reports that "Zs" were carved into the bodies, a widely known symbol of the Zetas, one of Mexico's most powerful cartels.

"Six deaths is not news in Mexico," El Pais lamented.

That's not what I want to hear before I blow a shit-ton of cash on a trip...sorry but I can make a mojito anywhere, pal.

Cesar Munoz, an editor at Novedades, a newspaper in Cancun, said the resort town is no longer immune from the violence.

"The reality is that Cancun, like the rest of Mexico, is at war," he told the Los Angeles Times last year. "It's at war with the drug cartels."

Mexico's war on drugs is a national one. Two people were killed Sunday in Coyuca de Catalan when armed men opened fire at a "quinceanera," or "sweet 15," celebration.

How nice...
Once again, your safety is your responsibility, especailly when travelling abroad.

be safe,
Bobby

An old saying with much wisdom...

First off, sorry for the delay in posting-I've been a bit busy and have been focusing on cleaning up my training a bit-clarifying certain points, attending to details and such, so I hope that explains my absence...

Now, on to today's thought, the phrase, "he can't see the forest for the trees"

That phrase is used when someone focuses too much on specifics and misses the big picture.

In self defense, especially, do not focus on the details, i.e., what to do if you're grabbed HERE or THERE, if someone does THIS, then I'll do THAT, and so on...

Keep your eyes on the big picture, and that is you are being attacked!

Respond with simple, effective and practical motions designed to target their vital areas...EYES, THROAT, BALLS and SHINS.

That's what the White Collar Warrior Self Protection Skills Home Study Course is all about.

Check it out!

Talk to you soon,

Bobby

Child Abduction Alert

I cannot imagine anything being more painful for a parent than having a child be abducted.

I was watching King of Queens re-runs last night (I LOVE that show) when a Child Abduction Alert came on the television. This tends to frustrate the instructor, who then backtalks and says to the student, "No,no, no...attack this way" and the drill continues.

The problem is, when one thinks in a technique-specific way, problems like this are bound to occur. Rather than get frustrated when a drill fails, be thankful that it does, for it exposes the danger of training and thinking in a technique-reactionary mindset. It also demonstrates the unpredictable, sloppy and staccato nature of a real-time attack.

Now, I'm not saying that all rtraining should be balls to the wall slam-bang. As the maxim goes, "learn the form to seek the formless...learn the way to find your own way."

when learning a technique, practice slow at first to get the nuance and body mecahnics down, then gradually up the speed and intensity, then apply if full force in an uncooperative setting...

BUT

always train in a 'target-specific" mentailty - every time someone attacks you, they expose one of their main targets - eyes, throat, groin, or shins. there's no getting around that. if you train to hit these targets hard, fast and often, your techniques will always find their way to the appropriate targets.

Check out the White Collar Warrior Self Protection Skills Home Study Course for the most simple, effective and practical method of training this way-and you will make yourselves and your loved ones safer.

Gotta jet-take care,

Bobby

Train to protect that which you are most grateful for...

The other day I arrived for training feeling beat, run down, sore and sluggish...I did not want to train and sure as shit didn't want to teach.

However, I remembered what Wallace Wattles said is his book, The Science of Getting Rich

"Gratitude is what keeps you connected to power."

I decided to keep my focus on having a good class. Predators use charm to gain victims trust, so that when they attack, the defenses of whomever they choose to impose their will on will be down and disarmed.

This past weekend I attended my sister's wedding (my other sis is getting hitched in July) and I couldn't help but feel emotional. As happy as I am for her, part of me felt uneasy, because as she embarked on a new phase in her life, she ventured into unknown territory. That unknown made the big brother in me kick into over-protection mode. Thus, I remembered this piece form DeBecker's book and decided to impart it to all of you in this blog.

DeBecker's second piece of advice in conjunction with the idea that people USE charm is that it is ok to be "rude."

I've touched on this one before vis a vis my girlfriend and unwanted attention. however, this one holds water any time be it a vacation, a gas station or (as in my sister's case) a honeymoon.

Do not be afraid to say "no," or to assert yourself. Using confident and strong language, maintaining awareness at all times of your surroundings and situation and employing the body posture of being non-aggressive yet ready (as you will find in the White Collar Warrior Self Protection Skills Home Study Course available here: www.whitecollarwarrior.com/Products.html) you will project an air that says to a potential attacker, "move along." Should you, however, find yourself in a situation where charm is being employed, ALWAYS keep your mind alert. Rory Miller's book, Meditations on Violence, states that ..

"Attacks happen MORE SUDDENLYthan most people believe."

He goes on to state that "An assault is based on the threat's assessment of his chances. If he can't surprise, he often won't attack...when the attack happens, it's almost always a surprise."

That's not to say if someone is giving you a glare at the bar or if a few gangbanger thugs approach you in a paking lot or walking down the street. That is a different scenario entirely, one he also addresses at length in his book and one we will cover in this blog in the near future. What we are talking about here is a predator; one whose motive isn't territorial or macho-based; one whose motive is to do you harm. This type of predator is calculating, patient and much more dangerous as he has the element of surprise. Much like the "shock and awe" tactics used by the military, a predator will wait and then attack suddenly, so as to catch the victim off guard and (seemingly) helpless. For all you history buffs out there, the Battle of the Alamo was not such an attack-Santa Anna's decimation at the hands of Sam Houston and the Texans 6 weeks later at the Battle of San Jacinto was.

Awareness is KEY. proper training to handle a surprise and forceful attack is IMPERATIVE. hitting an opponent's vital targets in a quick, nasty and brutal way is ESSENTIAL.

Your training MUST address all of these factors. Simple, Effective and Practical.

www.whitecollarwarrior.com/Products.html contains all you need to know and practice to address this reality. It's the old "firstest with the mostest" theory, and it is true. Real violent assaults are quick, ugly and overpowering.

Think back if you have ever taken a "self defense" class. After a brief overview of the "technique," you paired off, and practiced the "technique" on a classmate or friend, and most likely with little or no speed. While this is beneficial for learning a technique, it offers little in the way of preparing someone to address a situation coming out of a supermarket with bags of groceries in their hands, not thinking about that neat wrist lock they learned against a guy who just stands there like George McFly and grabs your wrist then waits for you to systematically dismantle him.

All of a sudden, something happens, and they freeze...

why?

They were not prepared for the SPEED of an attack.

Remember, some thug isn't going to sell tickets to see his rape or mugging. he wants to get in, get out and get away.

Your training had better address that.

Check out www.whitecollarwarrior.com/Products.html and find out why our system is so different.

Be safe!

Bobby

Sgt Rory Miller's book, Meditations on Violence: A Comparison of Martial Arts Training and Real World Violence,
>
details (among many other extremely useful concepts) what he calls the "Four Basic Truths of Violent Assault." These are, specifically, that violent assaults happen CLOSER, FASTEr, MORE SUDDENLY and with MORE POWER than people realize.

Let's look at #1, that attacks happen CLOSER than people realize.

Most "self defense" courses rely on such techniques as defending against a jab, cross or haymaker hook. That's fine, but in training they ASSUME that the attacker will face them head-on and throw punches like a trained fighter. I don't know about you but every fight I've seen starts where the two people fighting are close enough to kiss each other, and every sucker punch or bum rush I've seen looks nothing like the defense for a boxer's cross or jab. Honesty in training is key, and while drills designed for the "defender" to pull off a snazzy move looks great and is fun, they offer next to nothing visadequately preparing someone to address the reality of a violent encounter.

Remember, to quote David Carradine in the old Kung Fu TV show, "men do not beat drums before they hunt for tigers." If someone is going to attack you, they will wait to do so until they think you are unaware, unprepared and unable to resist.
However, following the guidelines set forth in the White Collar Warrior Self Protection Skills Home Study Course (available at www.whitecollarwarrior.com/Products.html)you can train in a way that allows you to react no matter what situation you find yourself in.

Take Care, and Be Alert!

Bobby

The search for the best fake stuff out there...

Self defense training, no matter how realistic or reality-based, is still just that, "Training." Reality self defense pioneer Tony Blauer calls it "the search for the best fake stuff out there."

Does this mean that just because it's "training,' and not "real," that it is not worth practicing?

Not necessarily.

Studies have shown that PROPER training, i.e., training that is REALISTIC in the sense of scenario drills, surprise attack, adrenal stress conditioning and target-specific attacks, is very beneficial. Remember, you fight like you train.
Train with an element of danger and realism and with the intent of attacking an opponent's vital targets (eyes, throat, groin and shins)while recognizing the fact that in a self defense encounter that you will almost always be caught off guard, and your odds of survival just went way up.

Train in a way that requires you to memorize complex motions and complicated moves that are difficult to pull off against an uncooperating attacker, and all I can say is "good luck to you...you'll need it."

For an excellent resource on proper training, check out www.whitecollarwarrior.com/Products.html

The Power of Assumption...

What are assumptions?

Assumptions are things you believe to be true without really considering them.

For example, if someone pulls a knife on you and tells you that you will be okay if you just do what they tell you to do, many people will comply because they superimpose their own value system ion their attackers, i.e., they ASSUME that the attacker's thought process is similar to their own.

To that I ask, WHY ARE THEY MUGGING YOU?

Now defense against a knife is a completely different animal. My own personal opinion is that if someone wants my wallet, screw it-here, take it.
BUT-
If, after giving them my wallet, they want me to come with them-it's on. I figure for every step I take, my odds of survival go down. In that case, I will retalliate as, at that point, I have nothing to lose.

If you notice, that last sentence was an assumption in itself but it was an educated one. If soemone tells me that they want my wallet and I give it to him, thus ends the exchange. if they then say that I have to go down this alley or get into that car, the parameters have completely changed. margin:0px !important; padding: 0px !important" /> one aspect he discusses at great length is the chemical cocktail,i.e., the adrenaline dump that takes place in your body prior to any physical altercation. He states that while the chemical cocktail makes most people more dangerous, it tends to make trained fighters LESS dangerous because while it increase strenght, short-term speed and pain tolerance it DECREASES fine and complex motor skill activity.

In other words, the old "if someone grabs your RIGHT wrist, do THIS," type of crap just doesn't cut it. Self defense is all about applying the maximum amount of damage to the opponent while sustaining as little damage as possible in the quickest way. And, based on the statistics from Miller's research, the only sure-fire way to achieve such goals is to employ GROSS motor skills consisting of simple, direct, efficient and thereby practical moves designed to target an opponent's vulnerable points.
This was the "Golden Rule" of the White Collar Warrior Self Protection Skills Home Study Course. You ought not be thinking of whether it ends in victory or defeat, but let nature take its course and your tools will strike at the right moment..."

and my personal favorite...

"Forget about winning and losing, forget about pride and pain. Let an opponent graze your skin and you smash into his flesh; let an opponent smash into your flesh and you fracture his bone; let an opponent fracture your bone and you take his life! Do not be concerned with your escaping safely; lay your life before him!”

The first one is relevant to our situation in the sense that when shit goes down, your mind must turn off, you must be on auto pilot mode, programmed to dismantle whoever asks you to fuck them up (by either attacking you, your family, loved ones, etc.)At that point, if your mind starts working, you start losing. You must abandon your mind, and just let your (hopefuilly proper) training come out. Like a T-shirt I saw says, "If you have to stop and think...it's too late!"

The second quote perfectly encapsulates how one must view a life-or-death encounter-and let's be honest, not every life or death scenario looks like a mugger with a gun or rapist with a knife. It could be a young kid who rear ends you in traffic and then gets out of his car, a drunk middle aged guy at the local pub, or an irate customer at a gas station. You don't have the luxury of knowing when and where, so you must be prepared to do whatever it takes.

Like the bible verse goes, "he who tries to save his life will lose it; he who lays his life down will save it."

If I'm going to get into it, that bastard better knock my ass out or incapacitate me, because as long as I can stand I'm looking to fuck this guy up. And anyone who trains with me can tell you, I do have one hell of a hard head=-)

Train the material in the White Collar Warrior Self Protection Skills Home Study Course, available for purchase and immediate download at www.whitecollarwarrior.com/Products.html with the mentality described by Bruce's quotes and you will be a force to be reckoned with.

Be safe,

Bobby

Three things I think you should check out...

Everyone who knows me knows I like efficiency. The iconic shot of Sylvester Stallone looking down from the top of the steps in Philadelphia with his fists raised gives me chills every time I look at it. The tagline for the poster reads, "His whole life was a million-to-one shot."

I love that movie - and when you think about it, there is probably only about 15-20 minutes of fighting in the whole 2 hours or so. What I love the most (besides the training montage-if that doesn't motivate you, you're dead) is the story-here's a guy with no options, no resources, no future-then God gives him a chance. EVERYTHING for him is riding on this title shot-of which everyone BUT him views as merely a show; a joke. To Rocky Balboa, it's his one and only shot to lift himself out of the thick-necked loser world of mediocrity that he's known his whole life. One of my favorite scenes is when he picks up a beat up photo of himself as a kid, and looks at it, his eyes seemingly apologizing to his deceased parents for not making more of himself...that scene always gets me, every time.

In life, I think we need to take a more "Rocky" approach to everything we do - giving it everything we have as if our very existence depends on it.

When it comes to protecting yourself, we could all learn from Rocky's character and the way he views his shot at the title. It's not just about him, it's about giving Adrian a better life, it's about proving to himself and his parents, and GOD, that he is more than what he presently is.

For us, it's about our family and loved ones, our mothers and fathers, brothers and sisters, friends and family.

Do right by them, yourself and God - go to www.whitecollarwarrior.com/Products.html and download the White Collar Warrior Self Protection Skills Home Study Course today...

If I sound like a broken record it's because it is pretty damn important.

Be safe,

Bobby

A woman's final question...

Someone I know quite well was describing how she was watching her elderly mother dying. My friend asked if she could save a seat in heaven for her, to which her mother replied, "I'm not so sure I'm going there..." This floored my friend, who said, 'Mom, if you're not going there then the place is empty." her mother replied, "All my life I did for everyone else, all the time...." Her next words were, "I'm not so sure that was the right thing."

Wow.

I can't imagine what my friend is going through, nor do I want to pretend to. What I do know is that there is wisdom in this fine woman's parting words. If you do for everyone else all the time with no thought to yourself, you are doing a disservice to you, your loved ones, and God. God made us to make the most of ourselves so that we can better our world...not to run ourselves ragged trying to put everyone in front of us. The idea that God wants you to be poor, tired, weary and suffering is bullshit. God wants you to make the most of yourself for one reason: to help other people. You can't help others when you're broken down, worn out and tired. You render subpar service; you are not all you could be or should be.

You can only give the most of yourself by making the most of yourself, and you can only keep your family's best interests at heart by acquiring the means to protect them.

Go to www.whitecollarwarrior.com/Products.html now and acquire those means. Don't ever have regrets like that-do for yourself so that you may do for others tenfold.

That is all,

Bobby

He who hath, more will be given...

I enjoy reading Bible passages-a little each day. I don't say that to try and impress anyone, I merely bring it up because the title of this blog represents my favorite Bible story, the Parable of the Ten Talents. I'm not going to paraphrase it - look it up for yourself (Matthew 25:14-30)but the gist of it is this, "he who has, more will be given, he who doesn't have, even what he has will be taken away."
What does that mean for us?

Simple.

If you have a skill set such as the one found in our White Collar Warrior Self Protection Skills Home Study Courses at www.whitecollarwarrior.com/Products.html, you will be able to acquire more ability to protect yourself. Your confidence will grow. Your awareness will increase. Your ability to handle yourself in a variety of situations will expand.

If you don't have or choose not to address improving or learning this skill set, your money, property, safety or life will be taken from you.

You gotta love that hard hittin' Bible wisdom.

Be safe, and be prepared!

Bobby

Gratitude

<iframe src="http://rcm.amazon.com/e/cm?t=whicolwarselp-20&o=1&p=8&l=bpl&asins=1587360942&fc1=000000&IS2=1&lt1=_blank&m=amazon&lc1=0000FF&bc1=000000&bg1=FFFFFF&f=ifr" style="align:left;padding-top:5px;width:131px;height:245px;padding-right:10px;"align="left" scrolling="no" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" frameborder="0">In his 1911 classic, The Science of Getting Rich (the book that inspired Rhonda Byrne's 2006 blockbuster hit, The Secret) New Thought writer Wallace Wattles spoke of the many facets of thinking in what he put "The Certain Way." One aspect that he gave pre-eminence to above all others was this: Gratitude. Wattles spoke of gratitude this way:

"You cannot exercise much power without gratitude, because it is
gratitude that keeps you connected with power."

I am so grateful for my health (having watched my aunt slowly die of ALS, otherwise known as Lou Gehrig's disease) so I am adamant about keeping myself fit, even on days when I'm tired or sore or otherwise mentally "checked out". I try to do at least something physical - for me and for my Aunt Sharon.

I am so grateful for my employment in today's economy, so I demonstrate that gratitude through my genuine love for what I do. People can see this when I'm at work, and the vibrance of my facility I believe is in no small part to the enthusiasm and genuine enjoyment my job provides me.

I am so very grateful for my family, friends and loved ones, that I will do whatever I can to keep them safe. I train hard, I train often and I train consistently-because I know the stakes.

It is out of gratitude that we derive power.

Do me a favor - think of what you're grateful for, and then think of what you'd be willing to do to keep it. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue!
That's the Chicago way, and that's how you get Capone!
Now, what are you prepared to do??"

Such a valuable question-in any area of life.
What are you prepared to do?

When it comes to keeping yourself safe, this is a question that everyone must ask him or herself..."What am I prepared to do?"

Key word here is prepared

Forewarned is forearmed - go to www.whitecollarwarrior.com/Products.html
and get prepared.

Be safe,

Bobby

Keep this in mind...

I heard a great quote that perfectly encapsulates what the White Collar Warrior Self Protection Skills Home Study Course is all about...

"You will not RISE to your expectations; you will FALL to your level of training."
Keep this in mind, as evry principle of self defense hinges on this.

Go to www.whitecollarwarrior.com/Products.html now and see what I'm talking about.

Bobby

Closest weapon, closest target...

The other nite after coming home from the bar, I went to Taco Bell. These should be read, re-read and ingrained into your mind - thery're that important.

Be Confident and Determined.

Criminals are like predatory animals, and the streets are like a concrete jungle. You show hesitation or fear, they will pounce. You attack halfheartedly, it will only serve to anger them and raise their aggression towards you while simultaneously demoralizing yourself.

Make up your mind that if you must ATTACK, you will ATTACK WITH EVERYTHING YOU'VE GOT. It is very difficult if not impossible to stop someone who puts absolutely everything into a set course of action. You might think that each of these books has NOTHING to do with self defense. WRONG. Regarding mentality and mindset, they have EVRYTHING to do with self defense.
Self discipline is self discipline, and a positive outlook and ever-advancing mind can and will serve you in personal achievement.

So too is it with protecting yourself.
Do yourself a favor-pick up a copy of these books and read them-this will help your self defense training in a marked way.

Get your mind right by downloading these 6 Principles into your brain, and while you're at it download the White Collar Warrior Self Protection Skills Home Study Course to your computer-you shan't be disappointed....

Later gang,

Bobby

Principle #5

Now let's move on to the 5th of John Kary's "6 Principles of Combat," guidelines I believe everyone should know, especially insofar as simple, basic, effective and practical self defense and persoanl protection is concerned.

Attack Vital Parts of the Body.

I can't expound any more on this section of the White Collar Warrior Self Protection Skills Home Study Course Volume 1 available for purchase and immediate download at www.whitecollarwarrior.com/Products.html

Give it a read-very good stuff here...

As we briefly touched on earlier, the core of this system is comprised of gross motor skill techniques designed to take anyone out of commission by attacking the four main targets on the body. These are:
 EYES
 THROAT
 GROIN
 SHINS
To help you remember these targets, memorize the following acronym (and no, I did not make this up, credit here goes to former SEAL Team Six trainer Paul Vunak)

”Escape To Gain Safety” - Eyes, Throat, Groin, Shins

Why do we focus on these areas?

1. They render size and strength irrelevant- everyone will re-act the same when hit in the groin, poked in the eye, booted in the shin or jabbed in the throat. It is for this reason that these targets are known as “equalizers.”

2. They are equally damaging on the vertical and horizontal plane- For example, a kick to the groin or thumb to the eyeball while standing will elicit the same reaction, i.e., incapacitation, as a palm to the groin will while on the ground.

3. They require comparatively little pressure or strength- This is what makes this system so effective and adaptable for women, the physically small or elderly, and children learning to deal with potential attackers, “stranger danger,” etc.

4. Hitting any one of these targets has an instantaneous effect-PAIN
For example, a 6’3” 220lb. heavyweight boxer can absorb round after round of abuse to his head and body, but will be unable to withstand abuse to the groin or eyes. This “stopping power” creates options for you to remove yourself as quickly as possible from the situation.

Remember, when faced with an attacker, you can either play THEIR game and go toe-to-toe with them, trading blows, or you can go for their EYES, THROAT, GROIN or SHINS and make them sorry for attacking you or your loved ones.

That's all for now- I'll be back soon with the last of the 6 principles to round out your arsenal...

Be safe!

Bobby

Guidelines for choosing a self defense course

The following is the NCASA (National Coalition Against Sexual Assault)article, "Guidelines for CHoosing a Self Defense Course."

I can say without shame that the White Collar Warrior Self Protection Skills System fits these criteria BAR NONE and hands down-but don't believe me. The right course can empower you; the wrong one can get you hurt-or worse.

Read on...

The following are guidelines for Choosing a Self-Defense Course developed by the National Coalition Against Sexual Assault. This page was originally taken from Mary Brandl and BPS Communications. Mary, together with Anita Bendickson, has produced a book and a series of Self-Defense videos. They also teach many self-defense courses in the Upper Midwest of the United States. For more information about BPS Communcations check out their website at www.bpscom.com
NCASA Guidelines for Choosing
A Self Defense Course

Prepared for the National Coalition Against Sexual Assault by the NCASA Self-Defense AD-HOC Committee

PLEASE NOTE:
Although the guidelines as originally written addressed women looking into self-defense options, they are appropriate guidelines for men also. To reflect this, any gender-specific wording has been changed by Mary Brandl & BPS Communications.

Ideally, a good self-defense program should reflect these
philosophical points in its outlook

1.People do not ask for, cause, invite or deserve to be assaulted. Women and men sometimes exercise poor judgement about safety behavior, but that does not make them responsible for the attack. Attackers are responsible for their attacks and their use of violence to overpower, control and abuse another human being
.2.Whatever a person's decision in a given self-defense situation, whatever the action she or he does or does not take, he or she is not at fault. A person's decision to survive the best way they can must be respected. Self-defense classes should not be used as judgment against a victim/survivor.

3.Good self-defense programs do not "tell" an individual what she "should" or "should not" do. A program should offer options, techniques, and a way of analyzing situations. A program may point out what USUALLY works best in MOST situations, but each situation is unique and the final decision rests with the person actually confronted with the situation.

4.Empowerment is the goal of a good self-defense program. The individual's right to make decisions about his or her participation must be respected. Pressure should not be brought to bear in any way to get a person to participate in an activity if that person is hesitant or unwilling.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Is Self-Defense?
Self-defense is a set of awareness, assertiveness, verbal confrontation skills with safety strategies and physical techniques that enable someone to successfully escape, resist and survive violent attacks. A good self-defense course provides psychological awareness and verbal skills, not just physical training.

Does Self-Defense Work?
Yes, Self-defense training can increase your options and help you prepare responses to slow down, de-escalate, or interrupt an attack. Like any tool, the more you know about it, the more informed you are to make a decision and to use it.

Is Self-Defense a Guarantee?
No. There are no guarantees when it comes to self-protection. However, self-defense training can increase your choices/options and your preparedness.

Is There a Standard Self-Defense Course?
No. There are many formats for training. They may be as short as two hours or as long as 8 weeks or a semester. Whatever the length of the program, it should be based on maximizing options, simple techniques, and respect for people's experience.

Is There a Course I Should Stay Away From?
Only you can answer this question. Find out about the philosophy of the program and the background of the instructor. Observe a class session if you can and talk to an instructor or a student. Is the instructor knowledgeable and respectful of your concerns? Is it a length of time that you can commit to and at a cost you can afford? You deserve to have all your questions answered before taking a class.

Who's Better--A Male or Female Instructor?
There is an advantage for women to having a female instructor as a role model--who has similar experiences surviving as a woman. All-women classes tend to provide an easier atmosphere in which to discuss sensitive issues. On the other hand, some women feel having male partners to practice with can add to their experience. The quality of a class depends on the knowledge, attitude and philosophy of the instructor, male or female, not necessarily on gender. The most important aspect is that the instructor, male or female, conducts the training for the students geared to their individual strengths and abilities. Feeling safe and building trust comes before learning.

Must I Train for Years to Learn to Defend Myself?
No. A basic course can offer enough concepts and skills to help you develop self-protection strategies that you can continue to build upon. Self-defense is not karate or martial arts training. It does not require years of study to perfect. There are women and men who have successfully improvised and prevented an assault without having taken a class. People often practice successful self-defense strategies without knowing it!

If I Use Physical Self-Defense, Could I Get Hurt Worse?
The question to answer first is what does "hurt worse" mean? Rape survivors speak eloquently about emotional hurts lasting long after physical hurts heal. Studies show a physical self-defense response does not increase the level of physical injury, and sometimes decreases the likelihood. Also, women and men going along with the attacker have sometimes been brutally injured anyway. The point of using self-defense is to de-escalate a situation and get away as soon as possible. Knowing some physical techniques increases the range of possible self-defense options, but the decision to choose a physical option must remain with the person in the situation.

What Does "Realistic" Mean?
Words like "most realistic", "best", "guaranteed success", etc., are all advertising gimmicks. Choosing a self-defense class is a serious decision and is preferably based on some research. No program or instructor can replicate a "real" assault since there are so many different scenarios, and because a real attack would require a no-holds barred fight which would be irresponsible and extremely dangerous to enact. Responsible self-defense training requires control. It is important that each student in a class is able to control his or her own participation in the class and never feel forced to participate.

What Is the Role of Mace or Other Aggressive "Devices" as Self-Defense Aids in Harming an Attacker?
Any device is useless to you unless you understand how to use it and have it in your hand ready to use at the time of the attempted assault. There is nothing "guaranteed" about any of these devices. None are foolproof. None of them can be counted on to work against all possible attackers (no matter what the labeling may say). Realize that anything you can use against an attacker can also be taken away and used against you. While some of these devices have sometimes helped people escape to safety, it is important to be aware of these devices’ limitations and liabilities.

How Much Should I Pay?
Paying a lot of money for a course does not mean you automatically get better instruction. On the other hand, don't assume all programs are the same and just go for the cheapest. It is always beneficial to be an educated consumer. Shop around the same as for anything else you buy that is important to you.

Where Can I Find a Self-Defense Class?

Check with your local rape crisis center. Some centers provide self-protection classes or can refer you to one. YWCA's. and Community Colleges sometimes offer classes. Some martial arts schools provide seminars and workshops. Check the phone book. If there isn't one in your community, get involved and try to organize one.

Am I Too Old? Out of Shape? What If I Have Some Disabilities?
You don't have to be an athlete to learn how to defend yourself. A good program is designed to adapt to every age and ability and provide each student with the opportunity to learn. Each individual is unique and students should be able to discuss their own needs. Some programs have specialized classes for specific groups.

How Can I Tell a "Good" Course From a "Bad" One?
A good course covers critical thinking about self-defense strategies, assertiveness, powerful communication skills, and easy-to-remember physical techniques. The instructor respects and responds to your fears and concerns. Instruction is based on the belief that people can act competently, decisively, and take action for their own protection. Essentially, a good course is based on intelligence and not muscle. It offers tools for enabling a person to connect with her or his own strength and power. These courses are out there. Good luck in your research. Taking a self-defense class is one of the most positive acts people can do for themselves!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Minnesota Coalition Against Sexual Assault –MCASA- subscribes to the NCASA guidelines with the addition of one more: Instructors should regard themselves as professionals and thus maintain appropriate boundaries and not solicit or engage in "dating" or inappropriate socializing or conduct with participants.

The guidelines can be used as criteria for evaluation by centers or agencies who are asked for referrals.

Additionally, some areas may not have numerous self-defense programs available. These guidelines provide support to a person making decisions about class participation.

The National Coalition Against Sexual Assault is a non-profit, membership organization of rape crisis centers, associated agencies and individuals, established in 1978. The goal of NCASA is the elimination of sexual assault in all of its forms through education, monitoring public policy development and coalition building. NCASA encourages the dissemination of this material with attribution to NCASA.

Traveler Safety

This past week I went to Kingston, New York for a friend's wedding. At the Holiday Inn there was a list of "Traveler Safety Tips" on my nightstand, printed and distributed in all of the rooms for the guests. "What a neat idea," I thought.

everyone could stand to give these a read, especially as summer drwas near and with it the influx of vacations, so I'm sharing them with you here:

Holiday Inn Iraveler Safety Tips:

1. Don't answer the door in a hotel or motel room without verifying who it is. If it is a person claiming to be an employee, call the front desk and ask if someone from their staff is supposed to have access to your room and for what purpose.

2. When returning to your hotel or motel late in the evening, use the main entrance of the hotel. Be observant and look around before entering parking lots.

3. Close the door securely whenever you are in your room and use all of the locking devices provided.

4. Don't needlessly display guest room keys in public or carelessly leave them on restaurant tables, at the swimming pool, or other places they can be easily stolen.

5. Do not draw attention to yourself by displaying large amounts of cash or expensive jewelry.

6. Don't invite strangers to your room.

7. Place all valuables in the hotel or motel's safe deposit box.

8. Do not leave valuables in your vehicle.

9. Check to see that any sliding glass doors or windows or any connecting room doors are locked.

10. If you see any suspicious action please report your observations to the management.

Good stuff....and rereshing to see such proactive action being taken on the part of the management. Kudos to you!

Let me add just one more:

11. Be sure to invest 7 dollars each and purchase the White Collar Warrior Self Protection Skills Home Study Course Volumes 1-3.
Go to www.whitecollarwarrior.com/Products.html for more details and really enjoy your vacation from the peace of mind you will get knowing that you can keep yourselves and your loved ones safe.

Principle #4

Principle #4
What is the cornerstone of any practical, efficient and effective system of self defense or personal protection for women (or anyone else, for that matter)?

Principle #4 of John Kary's "6 Principles of Combat"...

Keep your Attacks BASIC and SIMPLE.

This is the number one make-or-break rule regarding the physical side of any self defense or personal safety, rape prevention, etc. encounter.

Think about it...you can follow the other 3 principles so far...
you can have an offensive mindset,
you can trust your instincts, and
you can attack with ruthlessness and aggression

BUT..

If your attacks are not BASIC and SIMPLE you will not effect the results you seek.

I hate to be blunt but if I am a rapist or attacker and I bum rush you coming out of your car, before you have time to drop into the karate stance and whip that dragon claw or mantis palm at my face I will have my hand around your throat and be dragging you somewhere you don't want to go...if, however, you react like a bat out of hell, poking my eyes, driving your knee or fist into my groin, and jamming your hand to my throat, I will be too busy reacting to the reversal of the situation coupled with intense pain to continue to attack you.

In any self defense encounter, one must assume that Murphy's Law will come into play (paraphrased, the more things can go wrong, the more they will go wrong) It is this law that begets the mantra/slogan/cardinal rule of the White Collar Warrior Self Protection Skills System...

"the LESS You Have To Remember, The MORE You Have To Work With..."

Do yourself a favor, Keep it Simple...

go to www.whitecollarwarrior.com/Products.html right now and download the White Collar Warrior Self Protection Skills Home Study Course...it's all we talked about in this post and then some...but don't take my word for it, see for yourself.

Principle #3

Principle #3 of John Kary's "6 Principles of Combat" is a biggie-

"Attack with RUTHLESSNESS and AGGRESSION"

What does this mean for us as practitioners of simple, effective and efficient self defense?

Simply this, that if you are forced to protect yourself or your loved ones, show the attacker ABSOLUTELY NO MERCY.

You can learn to do this in a very short period of time by following the instructions in the White Collar Warrior Self Protection Skills Home Study Course at www.whitecollarwarrior.com/Products.html
In the film Any Given Sunday, Al Pacino's character delivers a great motivational speech to his football team prior to their playoff game. In it he states, "Life's a game of inches...In any fight it's the guy who's willing to die who's gonna get that inch...On this team, we fight for that inch, we claw with our fingernails for that inch..."
That is a great way of describing how one should approach a combat encounter. In line with Principle #1, Develop an Offensive Mindset, your attacks cannot be halfhearted. There is something empowering about committing full-on to a course of action. Napoleon once said, "I see before me only the objective; the obstacle must give way."
And so it is with self defense, TRUE self defense.

If someone has made up his mind that he is going to rip your eyes out NO MATTER WHAT, then there is a high chance he will succeed. Why? Becuase he is hell-bent on accomplishing his objective.

If someone attacks you and your response is not one of unbridled aggression and ruthless commitment to doing them as much dmaage as you can, your odds of surviving an encounter just went down the can.

Think about it: if someone grabs you, and you do some half assed attack, you will piss them off. You will make it worse. And most important, you will effectively have demoralized yourself from the very beginning. Once your confidence is gone, you're through.

BUT...

If someone attacks you and you explode in a frenzy of indignation, clawing their face, grabbing their balls, striking at their throat, with all the intensity you possess, your odds of survival just went up astronomically.

remember, if you can remove yourself from a situation without resorting to violence, that's ideal...BUT
if you have no choice, attack that scumbag like your life depended on it, because in reality, it sure as hell does!

Gotta jet-be back soon

Bobby

Home invasion...

Everyone, particularly those who think that their houses are "safe" in the middle of the day or that they are safe just because they don't live in some ghetto shithole with cars on cinder blocks and weight benches on the front lawn, should read this-this is just one of many articles available online regarding a recent home invasion in the next town over from me...
Yet another reason to check out www.whitecollarwarrior.com TODAY.

Taken from the Huffington Post, April 15, 2010
Schools in southwest suburban Tinley Park are on a "soft lockdown" Wednesday afternoon following an early morning home invasion that prompted a massive manhunt in the area.

The Chicago Tribune reports that a boy called police around 4 a.m. and said someone was in his home in the 9100 block of Basswood Drive with a gun. The caller hid in the living room and stayed on the phone with police. The Tribune reports:

When police arrived, they saw a suspect assaulting a male resident through a window. At least four people are believed to live in the home. As police entered the residence, the suspects broke through windows and doors to escape. One male was caught as he tried to enter a vehicle in the area, Tinley Park Commander Rick Bruno said.
Two residents of the home were taken to Palos Community Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police took another suspect into custody about 6:15 a.m. near 183rd Street and Lenore Lane.

All four suspects are described as male African-Americans, the Tribune reports. Two are described as 5-foot-7 with a medium build and short dark hair. Both were wearing long black T-shirts, black vests and pants. People forget that instincts are finely tuned mechanisms that have been developed from centuries of evolution. Animals have instincts and we are no different.

Many times, victims of crime will say "I just had this feeling..." or "Why didn't I listen to that voice in my head..."

IT'S THERE FOR A REASON!

Now, to be fair, there is a difference between being vigilant and being paranoid.
Insofar as your safety is concerned, however, nothing is trivial.

If you have a bad feeling or "vibe" about someone, do not betray it. Be even more aware, and look for signs that might put you in harm's way.
If your friends want to go to a party in a rough area or with people you don't know or trust, don't go. It's a lot easier to patch up a misunderstanding than be dead.

If you feel anything that says, "this isn't a good idea," listen to it. Again, it's better to be wrong than to be trapped in a situation where your options are taken from you.
If you find yourself in a situation where such a scenario occurs and you must defend yourself, the best attacks are the simplest. Think OFFENSIVELY and attack the eyes, throat or balls. DO not stop until the threat is neutralized. Period. It's barbaric but at this point you need to realize you have no other options.

Chew on this, and I'll be back with my thoughts on Principle #3 soon- in the meantime revisit my earlier post on Principle #1, "Develop an OFFENSIVE Mindset."

For a complete guide to personal protection, check out the White Collar Warrior Self Protection Skills Home Study Course at
www.whitecollarwarrior.com

Be safe,

Bobby

The Myth of the "Good Neighborhood"

Okay, I had to add this one in-we'll get back to #2 of Kary's 6 Combat Principles tomorrow-but this is important so pay attention.

My neighborhood I'm sure is like most middle class areas-good parts and bad parts.
This got me to thinking-peoople who come up in bad neighborhoods have a certain sense about them that most folks in mioddle class areas don't have. The most dangerous neighborhoods in my opinion are those areas that are good areas but have certain sections that are just starting to "get bad." You know these areas, the ones with pockets of apartments that are "shady" or other areas where crime rates are high in town. Why do i say this? Easy. Bad areas have high crime-people who live there know this, so they are more vigilant. Rich areas have gated communities and private security services, house alarms and big fences. Crime does happen, however, not nearly as much, mostly by rich little pissants who have nothing better to do and whose mommy and daddy spoon feed them. Middle class areas are nice enough to keep people's minds at ease but still have the opportunity for criminal elements to begin filtering in, namely in the lo-income apartment complexes, breeding areas for drug activity.

It's for that reason that the working class/middle class areas are in the most danger-they're still pretty nice, which makes people think, "well, y'know, my neighborhood is good, no crime here." What they should be thinking is 'I have a nice neighborhood and good neighbors, but I'm always aware of who's around me."

Practicing vigilance combined with learning honest, effective and efficient techniques like those in the White Collar Warrior Self Protection Skills Home Study COurse will keep you safe and allow you to enjoy your life knowing that you won't be lulled into a false sense of security.

Check it out at www.whitecollarwarrior.com

Til next time, be safe and always appreciate those good people in your life!

Bobby

Develop an Offensive Mindset

Let's break down the first of John Kary's 6 principles of combat, specifically as it applies to learning and applying simple, basic, effective self defense.

Develop an OFFENSIVE Mindset.

Simply put, this means that your mentailty, when faced with an attacker or someone wishing to do you harm, MUST be "I will hurt THEM" rather than "I will defend MYSELF"

By taking this stance, your attitude shifts from one of "Please don't hurt me" to 'How F***ing DARE YOU ATTACK ME?!?" In doing so, you rob your body of fear, and replace it with righteous indignation. Your tools will then be able to do damage, not so much due to technique (although knowledge of proper techniques, such as those found in the White Collar Warrior Self Protection Skills Home Study Course, is essential) but rather due to the mentality and feeling behind the technique. In this sense the old adage, "He can because he thinks he can" actually, is true.

How do you develop this mentality? Through scenario based training drills and employing gross motor movements against an uncooperative opponent in mock set-ups.
Wanna know how to do this? The best course I have seen out there for this is either Peyton Quinn's RMCAT, Bill Kipp's FAST defense or specifically for women, a rape prevention class called IMPACT. Check them out if you have the means. I also encourage you to check out the White Collar Warrior site at

www.whitecollarwarrior.com

For 7 bucks, the info you will get is priceless.

Buy it and make yourselves and your families safer.

Til next time,

Remember-no one has the right to attack you. No one. If they do, make them sorry. You have the power to do just that. Believe it.

Bobby

Something to chew on...

Im keeping this short and sweet today. In any system that teaches simple, effective and easy moves and techniques for self defense, techniques is only 10 percent. The rest is non-physical. What do I mean? Attitude. Mindset. Mentality.
The following is an excerpt from a book entitled American Combatives by Master John Kary, a decorated Vietnam veteran who has actually used close quarter combatives, much like the moves seen in the White Collar Warrior Self Protection Skills Home Study Course at www.whitecollarwarrior.com/Products.html

Read, and pay attention because these are very important.

1. Develop an Offensive Mindset.

2. Trust Your Instincts.

3. Attack with Ruthlessness and Aggression.

4. Keep your Attack BASIC and SIMPLE.

5. Attack Vital Parts of the Body.

6. Be Confident and Determined.

I will address each of these in turn over the next week, so stay tuned!

Til next time,

Be safe!

Bobby

The Wrathful Goddess

Too often in today's society, the issue of returning to or getting in touch with one's base instincts or primal nature is not only discouraged but outright condemned. What is sad and at the same time ironic and comical is that it is this very state that will benefit one the most should they ever need to remove themselves from a violent encouinter with an attacker. Women especially have the capability to be either extremely loving and sweet or the textbook definition of vindictive. Don't believe me? All I can say is look around you! Men punch each other; women claw at the face, pull hair, bite and scratch. Men call someone an asshole; women mercilessly emotionally attack each other's reputation, start rumors and expose secrets previously held in the strictest confidence. There is truth behind why so many sitcoms feature a bumbling husband and his hell-on-wheels wife (aside from the fact that so many men today are nothing more than emasculated lttle children who transfer responsibility of their own lives and decisions from "Mommy" to "Wife"...this really pisses me off, but that's for another time). This is also the reason for the saying, "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned."
Given all the evidence at hand, it seems ludicrous why women, who have it within them to be very damaging towards those who displease them, are many times told or believe that it is best to cooperate with an attacker. What?! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? If someone wants your purse, fine. Screw it. No big deal. If someone tries to force you to do or go somewhere you don't want to, DO NOT ACQUIESCE. Simple moves to the most effective targets (Eyes, throat, groin, shins) and a "How dare you attack ME?!" attitude will be exactly what you need. Perhaps the best quote on the subject is from David Deida's fantastic book, The Way of the Superior Man

It reads:

Today's current fashion is to supprerss both the dark masculine and the dark feminine, so we have a large population of wimpy men and polite women. But beneath the nice veneer of most women lies the wrathful goddess..."

Do not deny your wrathful goddess. Which is PRECISELY what your predators are preoccupied with. See my point?

By the time you process what has happened, they're already in attack mode-their mind has been made up, they know exactly what they're doing....and you are still thinking, "What the hell is going on?" In other words, you're already two or three steps behind.

How can you avoid this? Your training must rely on simple motions, it must address scenarios, and it must have an element of realism. It must be easily learned and practiced, and above all it must be able to get the job done. It must be able to work for anyone and everyone, regardless of size, strength or ability level. It must realistically address the reality of a violent encounter.

Check out the White Collar Warrior Self Protection Skills Home Study Course-it contains all this and then some...and it's only 7 dollars per volume.
www.7dollarselfdefense.com

Til next time,

Be safe!

Bobby

Awareness is KEY in all that you do...

The first, and most important precept of self defense is this: be AWARE of your surroundings at all times. This fgoes far beyond looking in your backseat before you get in your car, or remembering to lock the screen door after you get home from the grocery store. What bit means, at a root level, is trusting your instincts. Never let anyone try and convince you otherwise. there's a half-joking saying among serious enthusiasts of personal protection studies, "Only the paranoid survive." Well, it wouldn't be funny if it wasn't true. Tis sad, though, that the more people herd like sheep to catch the latest episode of (ugh) TMZ or the more people hang on every word of Tiger Woods, latest mistress, Ellen DeGeneres or Oprah, the more people become un aware of the very real increase in violent crime being perpetrated everywhere.

One of the best instructional resources out there as to effective techniques and strategies for self defense, the White Collar Warrior Self Protection Skills Home Study Course, can be found here:
www.7dollarselfdefense.com
It is the ideal course for women, from "soccer moms" to college students, and all points in between, as well as busy people of all ages. No matter what your age, strength, or ability level, this little reference guide promises you will gain much more than the 7 dollars you invested in it. No fluff, just simple, efficient and practical self defense skills.
